How the Happiest People Stay Healthy

Everyone wants to know the secret to achieving happiness and stay healthy and it might be a little simpler than you think. Personally it meant finally detaching from the security of 9 to 5 and taking a “risk”. The obvious challenge for me wasn’t about financial concerns but one of living a creative and active life. Various studies and surveys have revealed that the happiest people are usually the healthiest people. This correlation between happiness and healthiness may inspire you to increase the amount of physical activity you get each day. While this is of course a good thing, you need to take your health seriously. Establish a plan to maintain a physical lifestyle throughout your entire lifetime.

The only way to stay committed to lifetime exercise is to develop and implement healthy habits on a daily basis. Small activities are the best. Hopefully this will mean you look forward to exercising and aren’t always contemplating your “get out clause”. Creativity is a word that doesn’t always first pop into your head when you think about fitness but it is so important if you want to maintain the movement.

Here are just some of those healthy habits which can help keep you happy, healthy and fit throughout your lifetime.

Regularly Exercise

The fact that you need to exercise regularly to stay healthy is pretty much a given. It’s recommended you try to get at least 30 minutes of physical activity in each day, but you should strive for closer to an hour or more. This could even comprise of 6 walks for 10 minutes each. If you like the gym but can’t get out of the house then get the exercise bike in front of a big fan! Get innovative with something personalized and individually rewarding. Forget about trying to mold your day to the ideal but by flexible and realize our bodies aren’t machines. Some days you may need a little extra rest but others you really feel energized to do more. Try looking at the week’s activity level and learn to get in touch with what works for you.

Maintain a Healthy Diet

While exercise is important for maintaining health and vitality, so is a nutritious diet. As a matter of fact, some of the happiest and healthiest people tend to fill up on fresh fruits and veggies rather than meats or processed foods. Cooking as often as you can really help. Apart from the generally better quality of your meals it engages your mind too. Sourcing the ingredients, inventing a masterpiece on a plate and possibly sharing with people close.

Relax and Meditate

Another key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle is taking a few moments out of each day to relax, regenerate and recuperate. The most popular way to relieve stress is meditation. It doesn’t take long at all to meditate so your brain can reset. You might want to consider using a small room in your home or at the office. It will serve as a place where you can get away from the stresses of daily life. A stroll to your local park or some light stretches while listening to calming tunes really helps to unwind.

Adopt these three healthy habits to and you will be well on your way to finding the happiness you long for!

The 2 SuperBand Lunge – Smarter than Dumbbells

Here I am performing a Two SuperBand Lunge

I’ve joined 2 SuperBands together and wrapped them around a pole to perform a SuperBand Lunge.

This exercise has many advantages over normal barbell or dumbbell weighted lunges. The lunge can be quite awkward, especially for beginners. Carrying a significant amount of weight in a more unstable position is just awkward. Lunging with a SuperBand is a more natural movement . Variations in direction are definitely more easily adopted. Not to mention the convenience of getting a tough workout when you want. Try carrying a set of dumbbells in your handbag!

This is a great compound exercise. Meaning you get a workout on multiple parts of your body with the one movement. Work the butt muscles, hamstrings, quadriceps and lower back. Your abdominals also get involved by the action. It also is great for your balance and coordination. Sports like surfing, badminton, fencing and numerous others really benefit from lunges.

You can try joining 2 or more SuperBands together to perform a variety of exercises, not just lunges. Rows, assisted pull-ups, wood chops and even workouts where you’re joined to a partner. This really adds some variety and fun to any exercise but can help maintain your motivation too.

Get creative and enjoy just playing around with the bands.

Travel with a set in your cabin luggage or backpack and take them on your next adventure.

Keep fit the easy way.

10 inspirational fitness ideas not including a marathon

10 Inspirational Fitness Ideas That Don’t Include Running a Marathon

Here are 10 inspirational fitness ideas that can help you put a little more adventure in your fitness routines so you don’t become bored.

The most common problem many people face as soon as they decide to get in shape is the monotony of their fitness regimes.

If you want permanent change, you’re going to have to find ways to stay inspired.

  1. Use social media to get a little motivation and connect with other fitness enthusiasts from all around the world. There are lots of Instagram accounts you can follow which provide daily posts full of fitness-related motivational quotes, pictures and videos.

  2. It’s easy to stay inspired and motivated if you mix things up every now and then. You should try signing up for a new fitness class or trying an activity you’ve always avoided.

  3. Establish a motivational mantra and repeat it to yourself daily while working out.

  4. Writing a blog to track your journey to a fitter and healthier you is a great way to hold yourself accountable while still having a little fun. You don’t have to run an amazing 27 marathons in 27 days like Eddie Izzard did recently for Sport Relief but combining your exercise with a charity sounds pretty good.

  5. To keep you pumped up throughout your workout, you should try making your own exercise playlist that consists of your favorite upbeat tunes.

  6. You won’t know how to start if you don’t know where you’re going, which is why it’s important to establish both short and long-term fitness goals.

  7. It’s easy to quickly give up on your new workout routine if you don’t feel comfortable in the clothing you’re wearing. This is why you should look for fitness apparel you feel comfortable and confident in.

  8. Channel your inner child by taking the kiddos to the park and joining them in playing on the playground equipment.

  9. Dancing burns tons of calories, so why not join a group of your closest friends for an adventurous night out on the town.

  10. If you’re up for a real adventure, it’s recommended you explore your area by biking or hiking the local trails. By doing so you’ll be able to get your exercise while getting in touch with nature. Needless to say, the scenery will always be different, which is a definite plus.
